Truth Revealed

The Word says in John 8:32 - "And you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free!"

Something I have struggled with in my life was to practically live out the biblical truths revealed to me. It is one thing to know what the Word says about a topic, but a total different ball game to know what to do in every situation in a broken world.

The Lord once gave me Exodus 14:14 – "The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace and remain at rest" – during a very difficult time in my life. In the Afrikaans 1933 version it says"...wees stil." Have you ever had to keep quiet when lies are being spread about you and you are accused of things that might cost you dearly? When you have all the proof on paper to clear your good name, but no opportunity to deliver the proof? When it feels as if the world is against you? It was during that season of my life that I had to learn to trust in God and be obedient. Believe me, I failed many times... But today I understand better what spiritual warfare means and how important it is to strive to live a life of obedience and sanctification.

During our intimate time with the Lord He lovingly shows us the areas in our life where there are Unresolved Issues, Unhealed Hurt and Unforgiven Sin.

The Range: Your Name and Identity

A major hurt in my life was not knowing and accepting my Identity in Christ.

In Isaiah 43:1 God says: "I have called you by your name; you are Mine."

In Isaiah 49:1 - "The Lord has called me from the womb; from the body of my mother He has named my name."

Many cultures believe that a child "becomes his/her name." If a name has a positive meaning it will influence the character and personality of that child. It is almost a sort of prophecy over that child’s life when they are blessed with a name that declares promises and positive characteristics.

I never realised 18 years ago how important it is to choose your child’s name prayerfully, seeking God’s heart for that child.

Through the assistance of the Holy Spirit I experienced firsthand how the enemy stole from me – in the form of rejection when my mother (with the best intentions) changed my family names a while after I was born. In our ministry with teenagers we have also seen how there can be a definite link between the child’s spiritual struggles and the meaning of their names.

Satan’s strategy is to twist, distort and steal what God meant for your good. Fortunately we have the fullness of Christ in us – from the day that we were born again and we can ask Holy Spirit to reveal the hurt and apply Jesus’ blood to the healing process.
